Behaviour Change Programs
The ‘Drink and Drug Driver Behaviour Change Program’ is a program approved by VicRoads under the Road Safety Act 1986. Aussie Drink Drive is one of a number of providers approved by VicRoads to deliver Drink and Drug Behaviour Change Programs. http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/
Behaviour Change Programs focus on effective ways to manage drinking and drug use, raise awareness of consequences, risk taking, impulsivity and identify positive solutions to separate drinking and drug use from driving.
Participants are taken through a variety of interactive activities and will also complete a workbook. Screening and an assessment is undertaken within the program and where appropriate a referral to alcohol and other drug services may be required. Intensive programs include an individual one on one session to discuss personal goals, substance use and readiness for treatment.
After an offence VicRoads will send you a letter that has important information about enrolling in the right program. It is important that you have your letter when booking because there are a few programs:
Drink/Drug Drive Behaviour Change programs – These programs are completed in two 3 hour sessions which are a week apart.
Intensive Drink and Drug Driver Program – The program is held over four sessions. There will be three 3.5 hour sessions (includes a break/s) and a one on one counselling session with the facilitator prior to the third group session. The maximum number of participants is 8.
For those who participant in the Intensive Drink and Drug Driver Program, you’ll also need to complete a 2-hour Pre-Interlock Removal Program before you can have your alcohol interlock removed.
If you are uncertain please contact VicRoads.
